Remote work at La Cordée

Working remotely doesn't have to mean staying home alone. At La Cordée, you set up your laptop in a coworking space designed for work, with a friendly vibe that breaks the isolation. You keep the freedom of remote work, without the downsides.

Remote work, coworking, shared office: what's the difference?

These three terms are often confused. In reality, one describes a way of working, and the other two describe a place.

  • Remote work is a way of organizing work: you work outside your employer's usual premises. At home, or elsewhere.
  • Coworking is a place: a shared workspace with services (internet, meeting rooms, coffee) and a community of people from different backgrounds.
  • A shared office refers to the workstation itself, shared within a common space: you don't have a desk assigned in your name (or you do have a dedicated desk, depending on your plan), but you have everything you need to work.

In other words: coworking and shared offices are two ways to work remotely somewhere other than home. At La Cordée, you work remotely in a professional setting, surrounded by people, without the constraints of a corporate office.

Why work remotely from a coworking space rather than from home?

Working 100% from home sounds like a dream on paper, much less so in practice. In 2021, only 9% of French people said they were attracted to a fully home-based model. Isolation, a lack of breaks and the blurry line between work and personal life end up taking their toll.

Coworking offers a simple, healthy answer to these limits, as confirmed by France Tiers-Lieux's report "Remote working in third places" (in French). You keep the flexibility of remote work, but in a place made for working, with people around and an enriching atmosphere!

Can a team of remote employees work from a coworking space?

Are you a business owner, HR director or office manager whose teams work remotely, far from headquarters? Coworking saves you from opening and managing offices in every city. Your employees get access to a professional space close to home, and your company expands its reach in new areas: visibility, new contacts, new hires, without having to manage premises!

We've got answers!

Remote work is a way of working (outside your employer's premises). Coworking is a place: a shared workspace with services and a community. Coworking is a way to work remotely somewhere other than home.

It's a shared workstation in a common space. You get a complete professional setting (internet, furniture, meeting rooms) without having to manage your own office. Most of our desks are flex desks, and dedicated desks are available in Lyon 7th, Lyon 9th, Villeurbanne and Paris.

People usually distinguish between working from home, working from a third place (like a coworking space) and nomadic remote work (moving from place to place). Coworking is the best option for building connections that boost your day-to-day.

Absolutely. Companies already bring their teams together in our spaces in cities where they don't have an office. We work with the employer to build the right plan, city by city. Find out more about coworking for small teams here.

In our spaces in Lyon, Villeurbanne, Annecy, Nantes, Rennes and Paris. Each space has its own vibe; the easiest way to find yours is to come try one during a free trial day.
